The Hague International Soundart Festival

The second edition of The International The Hague Sound Art Festival, in collaboration hosted by the National Theater at Zaal 3.

This year we explore the extremes, opposites, contrasts and proportions through our theme “ARSIS VS THESIS”

The festival takes place this Saturday & Sunday, 19th & 20th of October at Zaal3 & Studio LOOS.

Participating Artists:

⚫️ Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti (BO/BRA)

Ibelisse Guardia Ferragutti is a vocalist, composer, performer and maker based in Amsterdam. Born in Bolivia and raised in Brazil, she weaves her sonic and performative practices inspired by her latinx roots.

⚪️ Patricio Wang (CL)

Since 1977, he has been composing music for his own projects, on commission from various ensembles and soloists, and for film, theater, music theater, and dance. He has been a member of several ensembles, including Hoketus, founded by Louis Andriessen, ensemble LOOS, Amankay, Quilapayún, and Catch Electric Guitar Quartet.

🟡 Wim T Schippers (NL)

Willem Theodoor “Wim T.” Schippers is a Dutch artist, comedian, television director, and voice actor. During the 1960s, he worked mostly as a visual artist, associated with the international Fluxus-movement.

⚪️ Peter van Bergen (NL)

Peter van Bergen is artistic and business director of LOOS. He is a composer, improviser, interpreter and PhD researcher at the Free University of Brussels in the field of interdisciplinary experimental new music. He founded LOOS in 1982 and Studio LOOS in 2005.

⚫️ Paul Koek (NL)

Paul Koek (1954) studied percussion at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague. He was involved in the founding and was a member of several ensembles. Additionally, he collaborated with various artists such as Benjamin Verdonck, Peter Greena

⚫️ Gerard Bouwhuis (NL)

Gerard Bouwhuis primarily established himself as an interpreter of contemporary music. In recognition of his exceptional contribution to contemporary Dutch music, he was awarded the Theo Bruins Prize in 2003.

⚪️ Leonie Roessler (DE)

Leonie captures her environment with field recordings, which she uses for radio pieces, sound installations, and instrumental compositions.

🟡 Titus Muizelaar (NL)

Titus Muizelaar is a Dutch actor and theater director known for his work with Maatschappij Discordia and Toneelgroep Amsterdam, contributing to experimental theater and films like Vlees (2010)​

⚪️ Panic Screen (CY/SP)

Guillermo Martín-Viana and Nikos Charalambous are the creative duo behind Panic Screen, an audiovisual project that merges Guillermo’s expertise in multimedia improvisation and drumming with Nikos’ jazz and improvisational guitar skills, creating dynamic, interactive performances that blend music, visuals, and audience engagement.

⚫️ Ji Youn Kang (KOR)

Ji Youn Kang is a South Korean composer, performer and sound artist based in The Hague. One of her main interests lies in researching the relationship between musical and physical spaces.

🟡 Cristiano Melli (BRA)

Cristiano Melli is a Brazilian composer, researcher and dramaturgist based in The Hague.

⚪️ Agita Reke (LV)

Electronic, electroacoustic music composer and performer from Riga, Latvia.
